10 July 2010: Hairy-Nosed Otters Released back into Wild

By Sokrith Heng

The two ottersOn 04 July 2010, two hairy-nosed otters, one female and one male, were caught by local fisherman in Chbor (Case Net) at Along Raing village.  Each weighed around 2,5-3kg. The place where they were caught is near Tisampouch Lake, where the presence of otters had been confirmed by camera trapping. The young otters were quickly released and returned to the wild by our community researcher in Along Raing.

Tisampouch Lake is good place for conservation of species, fish, bird and mammal. Our team also chose this place for a dry season lake survey to support the formation of a community protected no-fishing zone.
